This painting is of a grouse family in Weardale. The hen grouse has seen possible danger and immediately pretends to have a broken wing to draw attention away from her young chicks (hiding just below her in the picture) and blending in with the vegetation. This print has been very popular with gamekeepers. I will take their approval as a compliment to the detail in this work. |
