Vulcan Scramble

I have to admit the Vulcan has to be my favourite aircraft. I have always tried to produce works that would appeal to other enthusiasts and here I have shown a 27 SQN B2 having just arrived back from the Cyprus Wing. In the early eighties, this became the fourth Vulcan Squadron to be based at RAF Waddington, which then relocated to RAF Scampton as a Maritime Squadron.  This acrylic painting depicts a four-ship scramble in which they are clawing at the air, evading possible incoming missiles and ultimately heading east. This particular machine has faded paintwork after many years in the Mediterranean sun. It now resides at Carlisle Airport, Cumbria.
